Structure

ICED was developed in conjunction with the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) and the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP). Initially ICED was directed jointly by IMBeR and GLOBEC, but since GLOBEC ended in 2009, ICED now sits entirely within IMBeR (now part of Future Earth) as its Southern Ocean regional programme, and is co-sponsored by SCAR (Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research).. ICED led and coordinated international research in partnership with the Southern Ocean System of the European Network of Excellence for Ocean Ecosystems Analysis (EUR-OCEANS) and is an active member of the EUR-OCEANS Consortium. The International Polar Year (IPY) consortia: ICED-IPY provided an ideal launchpad for the ICED programme.
